Originally from the UK, we emigrated to New Zealand in 2002 which is the best thing we have ever done. I am a radiation therapist by training and worked at Dunedin Hospital until my retirement a couple of years ago. We live on a 36 foot yacht, which my husband built, so our real adventure is now underway. We have no desire to sail round the world but simply want to enjoy New Zealand. As far as photography is concerned, I came to it relatively recently (2014) and absolutely love it…even the frustrations! I love so many of the genres but especially macro, nature/wildlife and abstract/creative. I have been lucky enough to receive some commissions including large landscape prints and images for splashbacks. I have also received several awards in photography competitions with my most recent being the silver medal in the natural history projected image section of the PSNZ Sony National Exhibition 2020.

Have you ever noticed how so often we overlook those things we see everyday? Or if we do notice them, we consider they are boring simply because we see them every day? Queen Anne’s Lace or wild carrot is a perfect example of this. We’ll all have seen them, apparently reaching for the sky, but we’ll probably also have dismissed them because they’re white and boring. And anyway, aren’t they just a weed? But if you ever stop and take the time just to look at those flowers you’ll discover delicacy and intricacy and such understated beauty.
