Originally from the UK, we emigrated to New Zealand in 2002 which is the best thing we have ever done. I am a radiation therapist by training and worked at Dunedin Hospital until my retirement a couple of years ago. We live on a 36 foot yacht, which my husband built, so our real adventure is now underway. We have no desire to sail round the world but simply want to enjoy New Zealand. As far as photography is concerned, I came to it relatively recently (2014) and absolutely love it…even the frustrations! I love so many of the genres but especially macro, nature/wildlife and abstract/creative. I have been lucky enough to receive some commissions including large landscape prints and images for splashbacks. I have also received several awards in photography competitions with my most recent being the silver medal in the natural history projected image section of the PSNZ Sony National Exhibition 2020.

A couple of king shags contemplating life. Taken in Queen Charlotte Sound which is at the northern tip of South Island New Zealand, this is one of only a very few places where this nationally endangered bird is found. A 2015 survey showed that there were only about 900 of these birds left and there is some concern that there has been a decline since then. I feel so lucky to have seen and photographed them
